This was one of the first 46 Hummels created from one of Sister Maria’s drawings. It was made by master sculptor Arthur Moeller for the Leipzig Fair in 1936. It is the 5” version with a TMK #3 (Circa 1960 -1963). There are no chips, scratches, crazing or mars, it is in prime MINT condition!
In bygone days, the town crier or night watchman was a familiar character in Bavarian towns, keeping the citizens abreast of the day’s events and making sure all was well. For anyone captivated by old-world charms and the artistry of M.I. Hummel, this figurine makes a delightful gift.
